According to the website, visitors can join the program for one of three different types of membership. You can become a member for a one-time fee of $19.95, or you can become a distributor for an initial fee of $39.95. The highest ranking membership is called a “Gold Ambassador” and costs $299.
As a basic member, you can get Shaklee products at a discounted price and get a number of bonuses. Bonuses include a product guide, a DVD about the product line and a homepage online where you can place your orders. At this level and the next, members can reportedly earn money based on their product sales.
The distributor membership includes free product once sales quotas are met. You also receive a “Shaklee Independent Distributor Kit” at this membership level.
The final level of membership, known as the “Gold Ambassador” membership, has the most bonuses.
Along with the bonuses from the lower levels, Gold Ambassadors also receive a free website for 3 months. People who are at this membership level are also shipped free product to try out.
Finally, members at this level can reportedly earn money by recruiting more people to become distributors and ambassadors. There does not appear to be a guarantee for the cost of membership, but the website states that the program’s products are backed up by a “100% Money-Back Guarantee.”
About The Founders
According to a third-party source, Shaklee’s founder, Dr. Forrest Shaklee, started the company in 1915. He created a product that he called “Shaklee’s Vitalized Minerals” which he promoted using multi-level marketing techniques. Even at this early date, the company was committed to creating natural health products.
Dr. Shaklee’s company was incorporated in 1956 and still makes natural health supplements. According to the company’s website, it was also the first company in the world to become officially carbon neutral, as recognized by the EPA.
