Dollardays.com Basics

Dollardays.com is a wholesale catalog type website. They offer a wide variety of products in excess of 25,000, which range from high end electronics to your basic flip flops. Not only do they offer these products at wholesale prices, but they also give the buyer a resource they call a “Profit Genie”. The “Profit Genie” is supposed to assist customers in calculating their profit margins, suggested selling prices and the cost of their goods. They claim to offer this “Profit Genie” as a free resource that you can download right to your computer.

We have all come across websites or catalogs that claim to offer their products at warehouse prices, but most of them have already marked them up making the profit margin very low for the average small business owner. Is Dollardays.com just another one of these types of websites? I will present the facts and let you decide.

Does dollardays.com offer real wholesale prices?

Dollardays.com offers a wide variety of all different types of products. Regardless the businesses that you are in, odds are that Dollardays.com will have the products you are looking for. For their platinum members, they offer a 5% discount on bulk orders. The question is, are their products at real wholesale prices? After analyzing their home page, I learned that in order to view the prices of the products they offer, other than the ones that are on their home page, I had to create a free account with them. The form for creating an account with them is pretty basic: Name, address, phone number etc. They do not require any credit card information to set up a free account. Once I completed their form, I was able to view all of their products along with their prices.

I chose one of their products as an example to see if I could find a better wholesale price on the Internet. The product I decided to test was their Wholesale 17″ Backpack. The dimensions are 12″ X 6″ X 17″ and is made of 600 D polyester. It comes with the main zipper area and two smaller zipper areas in the front. They have a little design to them and come in three different colors.

They sell this item in a few different quantities. You can purchase either a case of 24 backpacks for $109.92, $4.58ea, or you can purchase 12+ cases of 24 backpacks for $96.25 a case, $4.02ea.
Then I did a Google search for 12″ X 6″ X 17″ backpack, made of 600 D polyester. What came up was a website called http://www.wholesalecentral.com. The closest product to the one listed above on their site is a 17″ Backpack 17 x 10 x 5+. This backpack is a little smaller and has a main zipper, a zipper pocket in the front as well as another zipper pocket in the front that is detachable. It is a little blander in its design than the one offered by Dollardays.com. It only comes in one color. They have only one price listed and that is $96.00 for a case of 24, which works out to be $4.00ea.

In the end, a platinum member of Dollardays.com would be receiving a bigger, more stylish and better designed backpack for cheaper than at http://www.wholesalecentral.com. Those are the facts.

Now let’s dig a little deeper and see what else they offer to members as possible money making opportunities.

What Else Dollardays.com Offers

Note: If you’re looking for a legitimate way to earn income online and want to
learn how to build a successful internet business, then I STRONGLY recommend you click here to discover where education meets opportunity!

Other than the wholesale products that Dollardays.com offers, they also offer three other possible options for their members to pursue in order to make even more money.

1. The first option is their affiliate program. Customers are given a banner ad through the affiliate company Linkshare, which they can place on their website in order to generate a commission for all products purchased through their link. This is a rather simple way of generating an income and requires very little work on the affiliate’s part. The downside to their affiliate program is they use an outside affiliate hosting company, Linkshare, which is a little complicated to understand at first.

2. The second option is their distributor program. To be eligible for this option you first must pay a fee of $99. Once you pay the fee, you will be given a website that you can customize with your company name and logo. You can choose what products to sell on this site and how much you want to charge for them. Dollardays.com will host this website for you, but it is up to you to advertise and draw traffic to it. The biggest downside to this option is that the search engines will not recognize your site as a stand along website. This is because they have already added Dollardays.com to their directory. The site that they offer you is just a division of Dollardays.com and cannot be submitted to the main search engines that have already added Dollardays.com.

3. The third option is Dollardays.com ecommerce store. This option costs $199 and comes with three months of free web hosting included. Dollardays.com will set up and install your online website. You will have access to customer support and tools for online payment processing. The difference between this option and option two is that you are allowed to not only have Dollardays.com products on your site, but also any other product you would like to have listed from other suppliers.

Customer Reviews on Dollardays

There are a quite a few reviews out there for Dollardays.com. Some are good and some are bad. Most of the bad ones focus on customers receiving products in the mail that are either damaged or broken. They state that the process of contacting Dollardays.com regarding this issue and receiving a credit to their account can be lengthy. The good reviews are focused on the speed of the initial delivery of the products and great customer service.

Dollardays.com Benefits and Disadvantages

The overall benefits of Dollardays.com are their competitive wholesale products that they offer, as well as the other options that are available to make additional money through their services. The overall disadvantages of Dollardays.com is when a problem presents itself regarding the quality or condition of a product ordered, it could take some time to resolve the issue and have your account credited.

  1. JenShinn says:

I’ve done business with DollarDays for years and love the customer service. If you let them know about the problem they will make it right. I like the Blog it’s packed full of good business advice. It’s a good company.

  2. Gina Collier says:

I ordered what was advertised as 1440 pencils on the Dollardays website and 24 highlighter 4-packs that were listed and pictured with four different colors (yellow, blue, green, & pink) in the packs. I received a pack of only 12 pencils and the highlighters were not what was pictured or described. They were in 4-packs, but there were 2 yellow, 1 green, and 1 pink. I have been trying to settle this problem with a Dollardays rep who, after two weeeks of back and forth, still cannot come up with a remedy. They want to send me a cheaper brand of pencils and are asking me to pay more for them! Since my order, someone changed the offerings in my individual order, but not good enough to fool anyone. They do dirty business and they care more about their relationship with their suppliers than they do about their customers. I am left feeling cheated and frustrated.

  3. TodW says:

Dollardays.com has no intention (or maybe ability) to confirm stock on hand, or update regarding shipping, until AFTER failure to produce.
Dollardays, or Dollarday$ seems to be the kind of home-run “business” that advertises a huge catalog of products that they can order AFTER you make your order. There is nothing “in stock” It is hit or miss whether they can ship any product they “have.”

My experience was that they take payment information, hope to drop ship an item from who-knows-where, or just wait to see if you call to complain. This scam is not new, just electronic. My opinion: your needs are better met by a business in your region, or at least an honest company that doesn’t claim to have a shipping, billing, or “customer service” department that actually all just one guy named Wes.
Also: claiming that “customer service” SHOULD have sent an EMail two weeks ago due a stock shortage doesn’t shift blame. It just makes you sound more small-time and dishonest.

  4. Dollardays.com does not live up to their reputation. I purchased several of the same item and once it arrived, I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted. Their invoice clearly states that they will refund you 100% of the purchase price, however you pay the return shipping. Upon contacting them to get a RMA (return merchandise authorization) they informed me that there was a 20% restocking fee on any undamaged items. This was nowhere to be found in their fine print or anywhere that I could tell. I felt scammed at this point and therefore, I am getting the word out. Beware of them!!!!
